Life is equality
The Life is equality project and initiative represents a fundamental response to the needs of the Khosous and Ezbet El-Nakhl communities, particularly women working in waste sorting and collection. These women face low wages and are often assigned the most difficult, hazardous, and physically demanding sorting tasks. In addition, they struggle to secure their rights within their families and society at large.
The project aims to support 200 families selected from workers and those affected by these challenges, raising their awareness about fair labor practices, women’s rights, equality, and combating sexual harassment. Additionally, it will create specialized job opportunities in the green economy for 100 marginalized women and waste workers, empowering them to become entrepreneurs in recycling and the green economy. This transformation will enable them to establish strong, independent entities capable of sustaining themselves.
All these efforts will be carried out through a community committee dedicated to promoting gender equality, ensuring women’s rights, and protecting them from violence and oppression. Furthermore, the project will activate and expand the equality social media page, increasing its followers and delivering awareness messages. The ultimate goal is to drive a real, qualitative change in the practices within the waste sorting and recycling sector, ensuring justice and equality for all.
